Are You Due For A Change?

The word ‘baptize’ comes from the ancient Greek word ‘baptizo’. That word originally meant a permanent, complete and irreversible change. In the New Testament the word baptize sometimes refers to that kind of change (Eph 4:5) and sometimes it refers to a little religious ceremony involving water(1 Pet 3:21).

Jesus said the change is like being born again. Paul likened it to becoming a new person. In that sense baptism is required for salvation. The water ceremony celebrating that change is not required for salvation (remember the thief on the cross – Luke 23:39-43 ), however it may be required for membership in some churches.

Baptism (change) is not something you ‘do’, it is something that happens to you. You are saved the instant you are changed. It can happen today or it can happen on your death bed. In any case, you must know what it is and you must allow it to happen. Once you yield to it everything changes. You will probably still look pretty much like you did before, but the change happens — not only in you, but around you and for you. Many things become clearer and easier. For example, your personal confidence increases because you know how your future turns out. If the change hasn’t happened to you yet, why not let it happen right now — why wait?

Have you been baptized?

Each of us is a unique spiritual being with a physical body. We are born individually, die individually and stand before God every moment of our lives as an individual. No matter how large a group we are in, our relationship with God is one on one. Therefore our worship and each of our styles of worship must be accordingly unique. That concept is developed and expanded in the book “Worshiping Alone” which is available through Booklocker, Amazon, Barnes and Noble or your favorite bookstore. If you haven’t read it, please consider doing so.
